Naaji, what I meant by Jesus' (pbuh) disappointment were his words when he was supposedly on the cross. Did he not say something along the lines of Eli Eli why have you forsaken me? Even though I acknowledge the fact that the Bible has a strong influence from man, in light of judging the bible for its words.. to me those are words of disappointment especially when we are told in the bible that Jesus (pbuh) taught us that whatever we will ask from God with faith he will grant us that wish. Jesus (pbuh) was the Messiah, thus there is no question of him lacking in faith. We presume he asked God to forsake him from the cup of death. But did he say this when he was allegedly in the cross? Did he not ask God not to be caught by the Jews? And still, his words sound disappointing as he is questioning God's decision? He of all people should trust God's decision. It's almost like he is asking God to justify his decision..like an explanation. You only ask for some sort of justification if you are disappointed with something.
Please feel free to counteract my argument... rather than the latter.. tis more of an opinion.
Pickthall:
004.157 And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah's messenger - they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.
Dr.Al-Hilali and Dr. Kahn:
Surah of the Woman ayat 157
"And because of their saying (in boast), "We killed the Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), son of maryam (mary), the Messenger of Allah," - but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but the resemblance of 'Iesa (jesus) was put over another man (and they killed that man), and those who differ therein are full of doubts. they have no (certain) knowledge, they follow nothing of conjecture. For Surely; they killed him not [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)]"
I have the pickhall translation in which he says that Jesus was neither slewed nor crucified but it was made to appear to them so. i have read enough evidence refuting Jesus' (pbuh) death on the cross.. ie. blood gushing out when he was still. When blood must have gushed out then people should know that he was not killed on the cross so there is no question of him being made to look as though he was killed as clearly he was not.
I think this opinion stems from being taught that one of his enemies or even Judas had his faced turned into Jesus (pbuh). If this was the case, the more reason to believe that either Judas or the Jewish soldier, either way who were Jewish, would have called out to Eli. If it was the Jewish soldier, then his desperate cry would be understandable as he was not divine. If it was Judas, his cry shows that as a disciple he followed Jesus (pbuh) religion ie. the Reminded Judaism what Christianity ouught to be. And if it was Jesus (pbuh), then to me it proves that Jesus (pbuh) believed in one God..not the triune God and certainlt did not believe he was the son of God litearally and therefore did not say father father why have ... etc etc.
