ArchivedSpeaking in Tongues ???You say the name of "Jesus" is not even found in the original Bible languages? As I stated in ONE GOD-ONE NAME: [/quote] "There is no "Y" letter in Hebrew. The letter from which the "Y" is made is the consonat letter "I". The first name correctly then is "Iehshua"...The ancient rule is that the "I" has an "I" sound when it was followed by a consonant. But if the "I" was followed by a vowel it had the "J" (G) sound. The name "Jesus" is therefore valid and the letter "J" is not a corruption of the letter "I". In the 1611 KJV when we find "IEJUS" it was pronounced "Jesus" The name of "Jesus" is found in the "Septuagint" Greek text of the Old Testament, translated around 280BC. In the KJV "IESOUS" is spelled "Joshua". Scholars all know that "Jo" is the Greecianized form of the Hebrew "Jeh" or "Yeh". They also know that the Greek "IESOUS" is not a Greek name to be pronounced in a Greek fashion but rather it is a Jewish name. In Hebrew the name of Jesus has for its root name "Yesha" which means salvation. "Yesha" is the same as "Yehsha". There is no actual letter "Y" in ancient Hebrew. We have the letter "I" which can stand for three different sounds of "I", "J", and "Y" depending on the rules of grammar applied. The rule of ancient grammar is that the letters "I" and "Y" are pronounced the same. The other rule which I previously posted and quoted again above is when the letter "I" is followed by a vowel it has the "J" sound. Hence "IESOUS" becomes "JESOUS". Thus with the name "Yesha" the "Y" is an "I" and should be "Iesha". The "I" has the "J" sound thus we have "JESHA" and by adding the final (S) for syntax we have "JESHA(S)". The Greek language does not have the "SH" sounding and so this does not appear in the Greek spelling. If it did, we would have 'IESHOUS" and following the rules of ancient Hebrew grammar we would have "JESHOUS" which is the same as "JESUS". It is true the "Oneness" movement started around 1913. But to say its a cult based on that is simply not fair (now who is violating the forum rules?). The Catholics say the same about the Protestant movements such as the Lutherans, Presbytarians and others which began much later in history. All that tells us is that God - step by step - line upon line - precept upon precept , has restored the Church back to its original form as started by the "Reformation" onward. Jewish persecution and then Papal persecution of the true church brought in the 1200 years of the dark ages in Europe. The key to discerning a false cult is very simple: Does the name of Jesus get up-lifted or de-graded? Every cult has in one way or other denied Jesus. Moreover, the Book of Acts gives us the standard to measure how the Church should be operating. What happened in the Book of Acts? They baptized in the name of Jesus for remission of sins, they spoke in tongues when receiving the Holy Ghost - and if the Book of Acts is not the Biblical evidence that all believers spoke in tongues at Spirit baptism then it must be a false book. Even Jude exhorts believers to pray in the Spirit in the last time. And there is no mention of a trinity nor is it implied anywhere in the Book of Acts. The Catholics are the ones who fabricated the trinity. The Bible declares that heaven must retain Jesus Christ before He can Return until "the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began." (Acts 3:21) The "restitution of all things" includes the Church being restored back to its original form which is what the Oneness Apostolic Movement is. It is the fulfillment of the promise of God to restore the Church for the Lord is coming for a Church without spot or wrinkle - a glorious Church. |
