Jivatma, take a look at your signature line:
The eternal occupation of the soul is love for God. Everything should be done in His service.
That includes sex. He also gave us the Ten Commandments, which involve the prohibition of sex outside of marriage. In addition He gave Adam ONE WIFE, one person of the opposite sex, with whom Adam became united -- and that term is more than sexual.
Why does sex seem a preoccupation? Check in with Hollywood, the porno industry, teen idols and fashions, etc. etc. etc. We are inundated with the sexual message in every perversion possible in the world around us. What makes anyone think the church is preoccupied with it? We speak up about it, but our preoccupation is with Christ Himself.
Which brings up an interesting point. We are the bride of Christ. We will KNOW Him, for that is how He described eternal life (John 17:3). That is the same word 'know' that implies a sexual relationship between man and wife. In other words, the ONLY picture we have on earth to help us understand the intimacy of the relationship we have and will have with Christ is married sex. And thus the Bible tells us that the marriage bed is to be kept pure. Hebrews 13:4.
Is this why Satan has spent so much effort perverting our ideas of sex?
One last thing, Jivatma. As a happily married woman, I can state that it is not a matter of lust in the sexual relationship of a marriage. It is primarily the deep desire to care for and please one's spouse which is the driving force for a happily married Christian couple. It is something which finds lust only a small part of itself, even though lust seems so large to others. That is how much bigger the caring in marriage becomes.
