I want to try to shed some light about Jesus's divinity, firstly ... Jesus DID claim to be God, he just didn't openly with straight words claim to be God because that is downright arrogant.
Lets read a scripture firstly ...
Matthew 20:28 - "Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many"
A more simplified version would be that Jesus came to Serve and NOT to be served. He came in the humblest manner, eg .. His birth (which many people unfortunately mock)
Im going to present to you ... The Trilemma ... Lord, Liar or Lunatic...
Watch and read carefully how Jesus claimed to be God, i really dont know how the Muslims will get past this one ... here...Lets start reading...
Matthew 16, verses 15-17 -
15 "He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art THE Christ, THE Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."
Interesting dont you think How Jesus cleverly words his answers? Jesus said that Simon was Blessed for knowing who Jesus is, why did Jesus not say anything to him then or tell him that not to over-glorify him? Hmm?
Lets read an interesting passage in John 10:28-33 ...
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30
I and my Father are one.
31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest THYSELF GOD.
Muslims will twist this in anyway they like, but whatever they think .. the Jews CLEARLY knew that Jesus claimed to be God, this aggitated them, and they wanted to stone him. Go and read the above passage once more, i urge you. This is the reason the Jews crucified him, because of Blasphemy.
The Jews knew that only God can forgive sins, so they understood what Jesus was saying when He healed the lame man:
Matthew 9:2 - "And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee."
In effect He was claiming here to be God and to have the right to forgive sins, which belonged to God alone. Now if Jesus is not God, who gave him the Authority to forgive sins? Only God has the Authority to forgive sins. Jesus many times received worship from people, why did he not stop them and say "Dont worship me, i am merely a prophet of Allah" .. Why did he not say that?
Firstly ... why dont you even look at Jesus's birth, it was TOTALLY DIFFERENT! he was born from a Virgin, he was sinless. But you chose to follow a sinner like Mohammed and not Jesus who was sinless? This is unlogical.
Why did Allah make Jesus born of a virgin and breathed a spirit into him if Jesus was "merely a prophet" ?
Why is it that Islam denies the deity of Jesus Christ, the same trait which is shown in the Mormonism religion, Mormonism religion has taken Jesus, and TOTALLY changed his Deity and perverted the Gospel, just like Islam, and you know what? It started the same way as Islam did
According to the Gospels, Jesus said that to love or hate Him, or to receive or reject Him, was to love or hate, receive or reject His Father in heaven. Again, Jesus is clearly identifiying his Deity here. Lets read on further some more interesting quotes...
The story of Jesus is either the greatest story, or the cruelest Hoax. Lets read on...
One huge difference between this man and every other man and woman, or boy and girl, is that Jesus was (and still is) sinless. We humans are full of sin. Yes i would be glad to show you from the Quran/Hadiths that Mohammed is a sinner and show you the Arabic translations. Mohammed is out of the question. Jesus was, and will be the ONLY sinless person who ever lived. So again, ask yourself ... WHY was Jesus sinless is he was just a "mere prophet"?
John 14:9-11: "Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake."
John 17.11b: "Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."
More?
John 17:21: "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee...."
Jesus made seven sacred "I Am" statements in the New Testament regarding His identity as God incarnate. This is the same description ("I Am") that God gave to Moses on Mt. Sinai (Exodus 3.14).
Notice the number "7" comes up yet again in the Bible. Interesting.
Other Biblical Passages Confirming Jesus as God Incarnate:
* John 1.1-14: "In the beginning was the Word [Jesus, see v.14], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.... And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
* Acts 7:59: "... Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
* Colossians 2.8-9: "For in him [Jesus] dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."
*1 Timothy 3:16: "God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."
* Titus 1:3; 2:13; 3:4: "But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching... according to the commandment of God our Savior.... Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.... But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared."
* 2 Peter 3:10 & 12: "But the day of the Lord [Jesus] will come as a thief in the night.... [we are] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved."
* 1 John 5:7: "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
* Revelation 1 Excerpts: "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him.... I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord.... And I turned to see the voice that spake with me.... I am he that liveth, and was dead [Jesus]; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen...."
Conclusion:
Who else but God can raise the dead, calm the storms, walk on water, cure the incurable, turn water into wine, feed 5,000 on meager rations, and cast out demons? No one--but God the Son--Jesus of Nazareth. Please, pick up the Bible and read it today!
