ArchivedDEVELOPMENT OF TRINITY :: Re: divinity of JesusRe: divinity of Jesus As for Christ saying He does nothing of Himself, this is answered by the Bible already>Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. [Phillippians 2:5-8]. No one can prove that there are contradictions in the Bible. And no other religion has more evidence behind it, whether it be manuscript evidence or prophetic evidence. The contraversies can easily be rid of if you understand. The different versions of the Holy Bible fundamentally teach the samething, which is the death and resurrection of Christ for the sins of the world. This is not rocket science. You are striving at a gnat, but swallowing a camel. The English versions are practically the same. Some English versions might say that certain verses weren't found in certain manuscripts. But, it all depends on which manuscript an English version is translating from. But when you put all the manuscript evidence together, they agree 98%. No other historic book is as accurate. And just because they do not agree 100% does not mean it is not the word of God. You have to remember that man is involved here. God used prophets to carry out His will, yet the prophets were not perfect. Are you then going to say since they are not perfect, they are not prophets? That is ridiculous. The evidence for the crucifixion and divinity of Christ is so overwhelming, that it leaves a skeptic without excuse. These things are stated because as time went by, more manuscripts were being found and New English translations were using the newly found manuscripts. Most of the descreprencies involved a scratched out letter, a mispelled word, etc. Again, the descreprencies in a single manuscript are many, but you have to take into account that these manuscripts are old and beat up. Also, it has already been pointed out that when you put all of the manuscript evidence together the number of descreprencies mean nothing, because the manuscripts agree 98%. As an example of how someone can be inspired by God and still make mistakes just look over the number of spelling mistakes in posts that Christians have made. The Holy Spirit dwells within them, but that does not make them sinless or even mistake free in any area for that matter. |
