Linda,
I am not yelling at you or calling you a bigot. I would note, however, that your counter-question to Crystal is not a proper parallel. She said: "Not everyone is a Christian, so why should we all be forced to live by christian rules?" A true parallel would be: "Not everyone is gay, so why should we all be forced to <I>live a gay lifestyle?</I>" Of course, that's ridiculous -- which is why you changed it to "<I>accept</I> the gay lifestyle." But if we were to reverse that again, we get: "Not everyone is Christian, so why should we be forced to <I>accept</I> the Christian lifestyle?" Not for ourselves, not if we keep to the parallel -- but <I>for Christians.</I> That is the true parallel to what you're saying. Think about it.
And as I've explained before, I'm asking this on a religious board because it is predominantly religious people who oppose civil marriage rights for gay people. I am asking this on a Christian board because those religious people are predominantly Christian. And no, I am not willing to say "oh well, too bad, guess I can't get married then." I doubt you would be either, if you were in my position.
Will you answer the question?
Alpha,
You cannot be serious. This is my country. This is my <I>home.</I> I have a family, friends, a job. I cannot imagine losing any of these things, let alone all of them -- and for what? An "easy resolution" -- for who, <I>you?</I> Not me. So no, I will not "go somewhere else."
