James 2:19
19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. NAS
Do you believe that demons who believe will be in heaven? But before you say I took this verse out of context lets finish the thought.
James 2:20-26
20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness," and he was called the friend of God. 24 You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works, when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. NAS
The obvious question is what type of works follow faith?
Gal 5:19-24
19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you just as I have forewarned you that those who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. NAS
You mention taking Hebrew culture into account when studying the Bible and then use a verse filled with similes as an example. So lets look at this verse in detail.
How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes behind your veil are doves. Your hair is like a flock of goats descending from Mount Gilead. Your teeth are like a flock of sheep just shorn, coming up from the washing. Each has its twin; not one of them is alone. Your lips are like a scarlet ribbon; your mouth is lovely. Your temples behind your veil are like the halves of a pomegranate. Your neck is like the tower of David, built with elegance; on it hang a thousand shields, all of them shields of warriors. (NIV)
Doves are usually gray, so she has gray eyes. Goats are black so her hair is black. Freshly shorn sheep are pure white without defect; therefore her teeth were white and without blemish and aligned perfectly. Pomegranates have a natural pink or red blush so her complexion was perfect. Her neck was like the tower of David so it was stately. Now what is your point?
Original meaning is another one of your criteria. And you use the word "press" to mean media. Press in English has a multitude of meanings depending on the context of the sentence. I will press my shirt; the press is biased; press onward; etc. So to understand any book including the Bible you have to understand not only the Hebrew culture but modern word usage.
Romans 1:26-27
26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. NAS
Same gender sexual activity at the time Paul wrote was tolerated however it was also considered aberrant and unnatural. So Paul is stating God’s law and Roman law in this verse. Homosexual activity was not natural for Roman society and is not natural for God’s creation. Paul is reiterating what is also found in the Hebrew culture as stated in Leviticus 18:22.
So by using your criteria I have come to the conclusion you are deceived and you as a practicing gay boy will not be in heaven unless you repent (turn to God and turn from sin).
