Trust you Alpha!! Mind you, I was waiting for someone to ask that!! Thanks for not letting me down. hehe
No, I don't wear a veil or a hat to church.. or actually yes I do, as where I live it's hot and we wear a hat all the time outdoors, so I guess I do wear one. Not for the reasons Paul states though. LOL
I have short hair and have done so all my adult life, but no, it's not because I am trying to show off my "equality" with men I have a condition which has caused my hair to fall out in places, so to enable it to stay strong, and leave me with some hair, I've had to keep it cut short (though I'd prefer it longer). Needless to say, it's my glory though (at least I have some left.)
But very seriously.. my point was to say that in my opinion the scriptural injunction has never changed. I'm to submit to my husband and he is to lay down his life for me, even as Christ laid down His life for the Church and gave Himself for it. (Ephesians 4)
The entire concept of submission is definitely not difficult where husband and wife are both living in submission and mutual respect for each other and the responsibility is with both to do that.
I know that the results of the fall in the Garden of Eden means there is forever a struggle between men and women over who should be in leadership in the home. (Genesis 3). And leadership struggles are usually no different in the Christian home than any other home, but the ability to live with the struggle should be easier in the Christian home.
Men and women both are called to be in mutual submission and yet, they are equal in the sight of God. I'm proud to be a woman who loves the Lord, but I still have to ask daily for strength to walk in submission to Him(and my husband). I may not dress like the Corinthian ladies were exhorted to, but my attitude must be the same as them, even as men must be in submission to God and their attitude one of christ likeness in the husband/wife relationship.
Hmm.. have I put my foot in this one? LOL
