Homosexual Discussion ForumEating pork, condemned by the Lord or not? :: Re: Eating pork, condemned by the Lord or not?Well, I've come to find out that people take that verse where Jesus "purifies all foods" out of context. In the NIV that is implied, but there were a bunch of biased pork eaters who translated it (no offense to the bacon luvers- sorry Marty). When you read it again, Jesus is simply replying to the Pharisees who judges the desciples on not washing their hands when they eat. So Jesus is trying to say, eventhough the desciples didn't wash their hands when they eat, it is not what goes in the body that defiles a person, but what's in their heart. Food can be purified by the digestive system, but your heart and the things you say can defile you. That's what Jesus was saying. He never purified pork. The fact that you mentioned Peter killing the "creepy" things should show you that Jesus never meant that pork was O.K. Because before Peter killed and ate the "creepy" things he said he never ate any unclean thing in his life (Acts 10). So he said this despite the fact Jesus "purified all foods"? I don't think so. |
