Archivedsome of you people just do not get itFirst off what is "paraphilic"? As to psychology it has found an explanation and a way to be free not a "cure". I was diagnosed with Pneumocystis cariini pneumonia in May of 2000. After 11 months of treatment with Mepron I was cured. This "cure" did not depend on my cooperation other than taking the medicine on schedule. In order to "cure" a gay man or lesbian woman they have to first want to go through long-term counseling. This is not a cure; it is a modification of a mindset. Can psychology or psychiatry empirically prove that all men and women who deal with a gay sexual orientation have a "paraphilic" disorder? Diabetes is not always genetic. Type 1 diabetes is, type 2 diabetes is not. Type 2 diabetes can be controlled with a proper diet and exercise. This requires an effort by the patient, but those who don't follow these rules require insulin. Diabetes is incurable. So to claim all gay men and lesbian women have a common cause for their condition is not scientific unless you can show us the proof. Regardless of the cause of a gay orientation, it is a human behavior that can be controlled by free will. |
