ArchivedA Direct question to Linda BeeThere is a lot of research that is incomplete into the effects of overproduction of estrogen in a male fetus and testosterone in a female fetus. Hormone imbalance is a possible causation of a gay orientation. There is also the possibility, and I emphasize the word "possibility" that some men produce to much estrogen, which all men produce, and some women produce to much testosterone, which all women produce thereby causing sexual dysfunction or confusion. Since most gay men and lesbian women first become aware of the sexual orientation at puberty the question is why? This is not to say that some are not aware of their orientation at an earlier age. I agree that homosexuality is not innate in all cases and immutable in most people however there are insufficient studies into areas other than psychology to explain the orientation. Studies have shown that some gay men and lesbian women develop a gay orientation in childhood for many psychological reasons. However, there are some celibate gay Christians who cannot identify any of the psychological roots of the condition. So a hormone imbalance is the only answer. Molecular geneticists have debunked the “gay gene” theory, but have the effects of hormones in the womb been studied to any great extent? |
