thanks for your reply Lord-of-da-rings,
Let me try and answer your questions and comments one at a time.
1. the point about the bible not being your book? Well, let me say, as you have probably been seeing in my posts to other forums, I can show you from the Quran that Jesus is the promised Messiah that Christians claim him to be. Perhaps not fully, but enough that you should be able to at least see the inconsistencies in your teachings and how the Quran and the Injil (gospel) speaks of the same Jesus. the verses that appear in both, both say the same and point to someone who has to be reckoned with as something way above the place He is currently given by Muslims, despite what the Quran states of Him.
2. The Bible is YOUR book too. The Torah and the Gospel are part of your traditions too and you are told to honour them. If you see posts in other forums, you will see that many of the things you have been taught about the way the Bible was put together is inconsistent with history and in fact, there are fewer inconsistencies in it than in the Quaran. So please at least honour the fact that some, if not all the Biblical narrative is still the unchanged word of God (and in my mind.. remains totally true to itself and is unchanged and unchangeable as it is the Word of God).
3. If you came to me and tried to show me from the Quran that what you believed is true.. then I would listen and read it .. for your information, I have a Quran and I have actually been asking for information on various festivals etc in other posts. You see, I am willing to look and be challenge.. it may not change my thoughts, but I am not frightened of maybe being challenged.
4. The bible states in many places that Jesus died for our sins.. but you see your understanding of Jesus is limited. He is according to the Quran.. the Word of God. He is according to the bible The Word of God.. so we both agree to that. Yes.. He did die.. he was the final and perfect sacrifice for our sins according to Hebrews chapter 5 and many other places.
5. Now how does that translate to Jesus coming to earth and there being no need for more revelation?
Jesus said he came not to destroy the Law, but to fulfil it. He is the Word of God.. He is God Himself come in the flesh as a man.. but his beginning didn't begin when he came to earth.. He was and always was God.. He is God now and He will always be God (Revelation 1:7-8 declares this with out any doubt) In this vision that John has written down, there is a description of Jesus and it describes his appearance in detail.. "out of his mouth came a double-edged sword...." the word used here are the same as the words of Hebrews 4:12 where it says
"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and and spirit, joints and marrow: it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart".
You see.. Jesus the man died ( and then rose again) ... but Jesus who is forever the second person of the one God is and was and will be alive forever more. yes, he died in an earthly understanding of death.. he had to or he would never have fulfilled his own words, but He never ceased to be God and as such His Words will always be His Word. His Word never changes either.. and so what you read in the Old Testament, is true in the New Testament as well. A book written over thousands of years and over thousands of pages and yet, remains always true to itself.. and that can be only true for one reason.. and read my signature for the reason.. John 1:1-2 and 14
Does this help?
