Mohammed, that was one huge posting and it's taken me a while to actually read it all. I can't yet do quotes etc or some of the other fancy things some can do on the forum, so forgive me if it seems like I answer this post in a way that doesn't seem to answer all your questions, or comment on everything in your post.
Surah 7:157 mentions that a prophet who cannot read and right will be found in the Torah and the Gospel. No doubt, over the years, muslims would have searched the Torah and the Gospil diligently to find where Mohammed is mentioned, and no doubt that is the reason why you have been taught that the Greek word paracletos meaning comforter or counsellor, advocate(literally one who unites men to God) was incorrectly copied and substituted for the the Greek Word periklutos meaning "the praised one", which is the name given to Muhommed.
Now, there are some muslims who acknowledge that paracletos is the correct word, but they also claim that that changes nothing.. that Muhommed must have been the promised Counsellor as well (and Jesus words in Surah 61:6 would certainly give that impression. However, in trying to keep this reply brief, let me give you 8 reasons why even we took that stand, it could not be true.
John 14:6-7 is the passage we follow, and notice, even if you dispute the name of the promised one.. you have to read it in it's context.. (and Jesus is speaking directly in answer to his disciples distress at the words they had just heard from him.. that he was going to leave them)
1. He will give YOU another comforter... He would send "THE SPIRIT" of truth... who to? To Peter and to John and the rest of the disciples. They had been dead well over 400 years before Mohammed appeared on the earth.. and He.. the spirit of Truth was to be The Spirit, not a human.
2. He will give you ANOTHER comforter.. If paracletos had been exchanged for the original perikletos, this should have read He will give you ANOTHER Praised One. This does not make sense, as Jesus never once mentioned a first praised one.. or ever called himself a praised one. this verse must be read with chapter 16:5-16 where paracletos is again used and fully expands who the original paracletos was, and what was the role and work of the one who was to come.
3. To be WITH YOU FOREVER ... again, the context is that Jesus was speaking first to His disciples.. the coming paracletos was to be with them FOREVER. The coming counsellor was coming to the Disciples and would be with them FOREVER. Mohammed did not come to the Disciples, they were dead well over 400 years before he came, and he didnot remain FOREVER... for he died in 632AD
4. The spirit of truth whom the world CANNOT receive. ... Surah 34:28 teaches that Mohammed came as a universal prophet to all men.. yet Jesus said.. the would cannot receive him. Now, Jesus constantly said that He personally would be rejected, that the disciples would be rejected.. though the world would hear, and he came to save the world, the world would not accept him.. until after his crucifixion and resurrection when he told his disciples that all power and authority was His.. and that they were to go into ALL the world and preach the Gospel (Matthew 28:18-20) and that they were to receive power from on high to enable them to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8)
5. YOU KNOW Him... Mohammed came hundreds of years later, yet Jesus told the Disciples something they accepted without question "you know Him.. for He lives with you and will be in you." John 1:32 states the Disciples had seen the Holy Spirit come down as a dove on Jesus at His baptism.. they knew the HE that Jesus was talking about
6. he Will DWELL with you ....again.. not only did they know him, they also knew he was already with them .. but now it was going to change.
7. He WILL be IN you.... the Greek word for in used here is "en" as in literally "right inside you".. no matter how hard you try, there is no way Mohammed could be considered as literally IN people in the way the Holy Spirit is within them.
8. There was an immediatacy about this promise from Jesus.. it wouldn't take another 500 years until this promise was fulfilled.. it would happen to them and in their time. .. and it did in Acts chapter 2.
But this coming of the paracletos was firmly taught in the Old Testament and in the prophets especially... look at these verses
Joel 2:28-32 and Ezekial 36:26-27 for example.
and finally.. the ultimate purpose of the coming "other" one.. was to glorify Jesus, so even if we did accept that the paracletos should have read perikletos, shouldn't we then expect to see Mohammed glorifying Jesus? John 16:4
I'm sure we could keep talking on this one. I'll reread your post and send more later
