ArchivedQuestions about the BibleIf my post sounded disrespectful to whom every it offended, then I am sorry. But I think you guys are COMPLETELY wrong with what the definition of LOVE is. Love does not necessarily mean you must speak in a soft tone. If your child goes to touch a hot pot, or goes by an open window, are you going to walk to that child in a mild manner and a gentle voice to teach him/her a lesson? No! You are going to rush to that child and tell it like it is. Eventhough you might do it vigorously, you are doing it in love. God gave us humans these different types of emotions to use them. It is just that we are not suppose to sin while using these emotions. I have yet to condemn OMYA to hell, or say God hates him. Jesus expressed the truth to religous leaders in a vigorous way, so is it wrong if I express what I have to say to a religious person in a vigorous way also (if I actually did)? After all OMYA is a believer in God. Also, read Ephesians 5:18. I don't think this is being "nice" : Saying certain people are ignorant and blind in their heart. Like I said before, Christianity is not always the teddy bear love religion. When I am wrong and critisized, I feel humbled and I keep my mouth shut if I have nothing to say biblically about the situation, and I learn from it. How else do we grow as a human race without fighting discouragement? Time after time again, Jesus said the Father and Him were one, and the Father was with Him. But when Phillip said "Show us the Father" to Jesus, did Jesus react in a kind gesture? Instead, Jesus said, ""Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father." (John 14:8-9). Also, there were instances in the gospels where Jesus rebuked his own desciples. Jesus even called Peter the devil (Matt 16:23) for crying out loud! Jesus ignored Nicodemus' kind statement when he called Jesus Rabbi just to get to the point of being Born Again (john 3:1-2). Jesus cursed a fig tree in Matthew 21:19 (as most non- believers would say). Finally, Jesus even called gentile people dogs (Mark 7:27), which many people would find offensive. Jesus did all these things, and yet He did not sin. He did things most people would find offensive, but He did it in righteousness and truth AND LOVE. People just have to learn how to accept truth in different manners. Please, all I ask is that you look at the meaning of love in a true perspective. |
