Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesFalse Religions and the AfterlifeOn what evidence can you claim this? When something has no evidence to support it, and when it violates empirical fact, and when it defies Oakum's Razor, then it might as well be disproved. Admitedly, speculation is rife within the scientific community, and many a fancy sounding idea has been put forth prematurly. But one must remember that the research is also very real and extensive, and we are learning. Scientists are not perfect, but more than anyone else they are the founders of modern life; we have more reason to listen to them than any church or holy book. Should we take their words with a grain of salt? Heck yes, but only because they're human. Should we obey a few peices of paper scribbled on by ruthless, primative, bronz-age tribesmen? Heck no, if only because they were ruthless, primative, tribesmen who lived in the bronz age. We shouldn't blame them; they couldn't know what we do now. As I have said before, I myself do not exclude the possibility of a God. Stephen Hawking himself once said that the very existance of creation strongly suggested a Creator; which makes perfect sense, at least far more than string theory or the uncertainty principle. What I pray, when on occasion I get around to, is that it is not the Christian God whose hands hold our strings. As this narative makes plainly clear, no tyrant can match up to Jehovah. http://www.sacred-texts.com/aor/twain/letearth.htm |
