Apologetics Forum: Ask questions about Christianity/Debate doctrinesWhy does god not answer my prayers?Reminds me of a baby that cries when their lolypop gets taken away. And I'm sure that even we as Christians are guilty of this. Does a mother care about the suffering she went through when her child is born? Jesus said their will be trials and tribulations in this life, but this is what he also says in John 16:21, A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world. Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you. Even after this verse Christ talks about asking the Father for something and He will give it, but notice he does not neglect pain and suffering. Also, when we pray, how are we to pray? We are to pray that God's will be done as Christ models it (Matthew 6:10). 1 John 5:14 says, Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. If you also look at the James 4 passage Aineo quoted, you would also see how to put prayer in its proper context. Finally, the more you complain about not getting your way just proves how selfish man is and needs a Savior. It's a win win for God's word whether you accept it or reject it. |
