Quran and Bible debateIs Jesus Creation Truly Like Unto Adams?I never referred to Jesus' divine nature in the original post. To say that their argument does not discard any idea of a divine Jesus, does not mean that I am proposing Jesus is divine. You are the one reading things into the text, mainly because of your pre-disposition to reject any idea of divinity in Jesus. But to follow from a strict reading, you will not find that I ever proposed that Jesus was divine. Furthermore, your conclusion is in fact flawed, because that is the reason why there was a comparison. Muslims make the comparison to REFUTE the idea of a divine Jesus. (Read the intro again, that is what the discussion is supposed to be about.) So you are wrong in that, too. Again, your are the one introducing things that were not there. I never said that Jesus is the God, nor did I say that Paul refers to Christ as such. I am yet to see a single contradiction in what I have said. Furthermore, you only contradict yourself when you make the comparison between the Gospel and pagan mythology. For the virgin birth is also part of pagan mythology. The concept of the logos is taken straight out of pagan philosophy. Human sacrifice is also part of pagan religions. Just ask any Jew if he thinks that the virgin birth and other concepts in Christianity are taken out of pagan mythology. Perhaps because (1) it does not read like Roman mythology, and (2) because their virgin birth is part of pagan mythology, and (3) my argument is not that they should believe in the uniqueness, but that they should explain the purpose of the virgin birth. |
