I was doing a bit of research about the name of God [Elohiym], YHWH. I know for fact the hebrew word elohiym means god is not limited to the True God but also to false gods.
I have no problem accepting the name YHWH as His name. I also know for a fact the Jewish scholars used Adonai (LORD) instead of YHWH for fear that they may mispronounce His Holy name.
Now from my understanding and what I have been taught is that the name YHWH is pronouced as Jehovah (Ya-ho-vah).
The only info that I came across so about about the name YHWH is this link:
http://www.yahweh.org/publications/sny/sn09Chap.pdf
Now I don't get into Hebrew language research but according to this link, the author is saying that the four letters are in fact vowels and that the correct pronounciation is Yah-oo-ay which kind of confuses me because what I was taught in the past.
I have a few people tell me that the pronounciation was lost along with the original hebrew language and yet the language returned but the pronounciation did not.
Your thoughts and resources.
Thanks.
