Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesJewryFirst of all "antisemitism" has nothing to do with race. Not all Jews are descended from Judah. "Antisemitism" is hatred and persecution of those who identify with Judaism as their religion and/or whose ancestors identified themselves as members of Judaism. This was the criteria used by the Roman Empire, the Catholic Church, the Reformation, and is used in our modern world.
Your argument (as well as the site you linked to) have but one purpose and that purpose is to oppose the State of Israel. You appeal to The Thirteenth tribe, but like all spin doctors appeal to only what you think will make your case.
"The Jews of our times fall into two main divisions: Sephardim and Ashkenazim.
The Sephardim are descendants of the Jews who since antiquity had lived in Spain (in Hebrew Sepharad) until they were expelled at the end of the fifteenth century and settled in the countries bordering the Mediterranean, the Balkans, and to a lesser extent in Western Europe. They spoke a Spanish-Hebrew dialect, Ladino, and preserved their own traditions and religious rites. In the 1960s, the number of Sephardim was estimated at 500000.
The Ashkenazim, at the same period, numbered about eleven million. Thus, in common parlance, Jew is practically synonymous with Ashkenazi Jew." ( page 181).
So who is a Jew, Ashkenazim or the Sephardim or both? In common speech, the word "Jew" is used to refer to all of the physical and spiritual descendants of Jacob/Israel, as well as to the patriarchs Abraham and Isaac and their wives, and the word "Judaism" is used to refer to their beliefs. Technically, this usage is inaccurate, just as it is technically inaccurate to use the word "Indian" to refer to the original inhabitants of the Americas. However, this technically inaccurate usage is common both within the Jewish community and outside of it, and is therefore used throughout this site.
