Archivedthis is wrongI disagree. I think that the Bible does not want us to make any moral judgements. A person may be raised within a criminal family and think that their acts are decent or righteious while everyone else believes them to be wrong. We cannot morally judge this person because their morals are different from our own. Also, if Hitler lived in Brazil for all of his life, completely isolated from any position in Germany, he would likely not have done anything nearly as evil as he did. Would he be a better person then? What if we were unlucky enough to be born into Hitler's life. Are we sure that we would have lived differently than him? Therefore we can make moral judgements of people's actions but not of people themselves. Only God can do that, because he knows exactly what is in their heart. Legal judgment exists to protect society from criminals and (hopefully) to rectify those criminal's behavior. But it should not judge them as human beings. (That's why I don't believe in the death penalty). That's also why I don't believe Hell is full of those with good intentions. We can only judge people's actions, God can judge them as people. |
