Buddha, Hinduism, Mithraism, Baha'i, & etc.Are there any Buddhists on this forum? My response to Alpha wasn't the least bit defensive of anything. I made a simple observation that Alpha's response was not relevant to the topic. I wasn't therein defending Buddhism. I, just as you, do not agree with the conclusions of Buddhism. Nevertheless, that is another point entirely. The thread concerns possible parallels. To draw a connection between Christianity and Buddhism does not necessarily constitute a connection between Christianity and atheism. IF the thread author was stating that the ultimate goal of Christianity and that of Buddhism were parallel, then THAT would be a case of comparing Christianity to atheism. So far, the thread author is talking about other parallels. You may parallel with a serial killer in the sense that you both eat sliced bread. Does this mean therefore that you are a serial killer? Of course not. Similarly, stop jumping to the conclusions of Buddhism and address the topic at hand. I have no prejudice. My point is simply that you shouldn't jump to conclusions. 1) I have not engaged in personal attacks. I have simply pointed out an irrelevant statement. 2) I am not claiming that there are similarities between Christianity and Buddhism, nor am I claiming that there are not. Therefore I am not required to post what these similarities might be, nor does my choosing to not post such constitute me taking this thread off track. I only pointed out Alpha's tactless attempt to change the topic subject. If I am at fault for deviating, then my deviation is defined as the attempt to rectify the initial deviation, which is certainly a "deviation" necessary for getting the topic back on track. |
