Buddha, Hinduism, Mithraism, Baha'i, & etc.Well, love me all to hell...
Wait. Do you think I am Buddhist because of what I said in the thread about Buddhism? Anyway, the answer to your question is no. Here is why: Perpetual hell offers no possible resolution (obviously since it is perpetual). Reincarnation offers the possibility of transcending material life. I suspect you think that reincarnation is said to be perpetual. Well, this is neither true in Buddhism nor in Hinduism. To a loving God, no decision is worth endless and irreconcilable torture. I may be to blame for living in sin and not coming to God in this incredibly finite duration of life, but the "punishment" does not fit the crime, and more importantly, it contradicts a loving God. Basically what you are saying is that God's love is conditioned by time. If I live for 80 years and then go to suffer perpetually in hell, then apparently God's love for me is bound by 80 rotations of the earth around the sun. Certainly this contradicts a loving God. |
