Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesOneness debateThe dual nature of Jesus or what is known as the hypostatic union is based on philosophy not Biblical truth. It seems those who insist that Jesus had a dual nature want to interpret Philippians 2:5-11 to prove their position when Paul is not teaching Jesus had a dual nature. Jesus existed in the form or image of God just as all men exist in the form or image of God. What Paul wrote is that we should have the same attitude that Jesus had since Jesus who was not a bond-servant took on the form (appearance) of a bond-servant and became obedient to the point of death. God cannot die, which defeats your rhetoric. What else defeats your rhetoric is that if Jesus is God then He was praying to Himself and answering Himself. "Let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." The Son was obedient to the Father even unto death, the Son willed to live while the Father willed His crucifixion to accomplish His purpose for the redemption of those who by His grace put their faith in Jesus His Anointed One. If we accept your thesis then God is schizophrenic. |
