A: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:" Exodus 20:15 (KJV--Emphasis Mine)
B: "And thou shalt make two cherubim of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubim on the two ends thereof." Exodus 25:18-19 (KJV)
I've been curious about the apparent discrepancy between these two verses. In A God commands Moses to not even make any likeness of anything in heaven. Then in B God tells Moses to make two cherubs -- which is some type of celestial being in heaven above.
I'm sure there's a really simple answer to this, but what that obvious answer is escapes me at the moment.
Could someone open my eyes as to how these two passages can be put in accord with each other?
