How can you say someone's opinion is worth nothing. I respect your views even though I strongly disagree with them.
Let's be honest, the Bible is full of stories and no one really knows if it is the word of God. I realize that this is where faith comes in, but in my opinion faith=blind devotion.
If a person is to take the Bible literally you would find so many tall tails, none of which can be proven by Science. A crazy man who wrote science fiction novels founded Scientology and it's "scripture". Is Buddism the real way? Are all Catholics going to burn in hell, because they are not born again? They believe Jesus died for their sins. Muslims I guess are destined for hell as well, but they believe in the Old Testament. Jews are the Chosen Ones, what is to happen to them? I forgot about the Hindus, I guess they are doomed. Surely the Mormons cannot be toast, I mean Jesus Christ is in the church name.
If God does exist, how do we know which is the one true way to get to him. Each religion professes to be the way to eternal life, but how do we know which one to choose. They all have their good and bad points.
I find all religions fascinating. I find the community part of most religions and the charity given to others by most religions to be wonderful. I find the exclusivity of most religions to be troubling. Wanting everyone to be the same is so not part of the rest of nature. Why should humans all be straight? Why do Christians (and Muslims for that matter) care if two guys or girls are in a committed relationship including sexual relations? Who does it threaten? Why do people even care? Who says it unatural? There is homosexuality in the Animal Kingdom. Do animals know their homosexual actions are wrong?
Living the themes of the Bible, such as loving your neighbor as yourself, and helping others are wonderful themes that cannot hurt anybody. I do believe this world can be a better place with compassionate religions. I also know that more wars have been fought over religion than for any other reason. People are supposed to love not kill. Jesus never spoke badly of gay people. He befriended a known prostitute. Jesus never hated anyone, or told them they were unatural or digusting.
What a lonely, boring place Heaven will be with just the few that follow the Bible, a work of fiction mind you, word for word. What would this world be without the gays? We would have to say goodbye to the best clothes, art, music, decor, inventors, etc... I don't want to be in that heaven. Sounds drab! Sounds judgemental! Sounds fictitious!
