ArchivedThe Real Homosexual Agenda???? :: Re: The Real Homosexual Agenda????A journalist coined the word “homosexual” in 1860 in an attempt to differentiate "gay" men from "child molesters". A psychiatrist appropriated "homosexual" to denote a mental disease. Now lets look at the etymology of the use of "gay" for homosexual men. "Gay" is an Anglicization of the Old French "gai", which was used in stage directions for man who played female roles before women were allowed on the stage and dates back to the middle ages.
"Gay" as a designation for homosexual men was in common use centuries before "homosexual". A little knowledge can help overcome ignorance. LindaBee2 wrote:1) That homosexuals be accepted as equals in all areas and are not denied any rights or opportunities that are granted to heterosexuals.
Already happening. Why do we have to add a sacred act like marriage to the list? Just leave well enough alone!
Although I disagree with gay unions being legitimatised, we do live in a constitutional democracy where equal rights for the gay community have been fought by prejudiced Christians who don’t live up to the same Biblical morality demanded of the unsaved especially the gay community.
You label marriage a “sacred act” yet many churches promote remarriage after divorce instead of commitment to marriage vows and marital reconciliation in a total disregard for Matthew 19. The divorce rate for professed Southern Baptist’s is 29%, which is 8% greater than that for professed agnostics and atheists.
Before you get so judgmental of the gay community look at how our society has been promoting lack of commitment and a disregard for Biblical morality over the last 50 years. The highest rated TV shows are “Sex In The City”, and “Friends”, which glorify and promote consensual sexual activity outside of marriage. It is difficult to find a movie that does not include a bedroom scene with unmarried straights straining between sheets and steaming up the movie camera lenses.
Jesus Christ gave us two new commandments or to phrase this more accurately one new commandment and one set of marching orders. The new commandment is "love thy neighbor", the one set of marching orders "preach the gospel, and make disciples".
The only people Jesus criticized were the scribes, Pharisees, and hypocrites:
15 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel about on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.
16 "Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, that is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, he is obligated.' 17 "You fools and blind men; which is more important, the gold, or the temple that sanctified the gold? 18 "And, 'Whoever swears by the altar, that is nothing, but whoever swears by the offering upon it, he is obligated.' 19 "You blind men, which is more important, the offering or the altar that sanctifies the offering? 20 "Therefore he who swears by the altar, swears both by the altar and by everything on it. 21 "And he who swears by the temple, swears both by the temple and by Him who dwells within it. 22 "And he who swears by heaven, swears both by the throne of God and by Him who sits upon it.
23 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others. 24 "You blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!
25 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of robbery and self-indulgence. 26 "You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and of the dish, so that the outside of it may become clean also.
27 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which on the outside appear beautiful, but inside they are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. 28 "Even so you too outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
29 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, 30 and say,' If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets. ' 31 "Consequently you bear witness against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. 32 "Fill up then the measure of the guilt of your fathers. 33 "You serpents, you brood of vipers, how shall you escape the sentence of hell? 34 "Therefore, behold, I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city, 35 that upon you may fall the guilt of all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. 36 "Truly I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation. NAS
When homosexuality is discussed on Christian boards we appeal to Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13, which are provisions of the Law and was given to the nation of Israel. We tie this in with Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9, and 1 Timothy 1:10, which are from Paul’s epistles to churches and a pastor in training.
The OT is the foundation of Christianity and the Epistles of Paul as well as his pastoral letters are for us, not the unsaved. I have searched my Bible in vain seeking any instructions that demand or teach Christians are to use God’s word as a sword against the unsaved or to phrase it better those without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
God is the Heavenly Father of believers, not unbelievers. The Bible is OUR manual for righteousness, not a book to judge those outside the church. Paul is very clear about this, and I never see this adhered to by the church today! 1 Corinthians 5:9-13
9 I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; 10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters; for then you would have to go out of the world. 11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he should be an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-- not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves. NAS
What does our Manual tell us about judging? Matt 7:1-6
7:1 "Do not judge lest you be judged. 2 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 "And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
6 "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
NAS
Rom 14:4-5
4 Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and stand he will, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
NAS
2 Tim 4:1-5
4:1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths. 5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
NAS
James 4:12
12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor?
NAS
1 Cor 6:1-9
6:1 Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts? 3 Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, matters of this life? 4 If then you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church? 5 I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren, 6 but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers? 7 Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? 8 On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud, and that your brethren.
NAS
Matt 7:1-6

Acts 17:30-31
30 "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead. "

Heb 10:30-31

Heb 13:4
4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
NAS
James 4:12
12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you who judge your neighbor? NAS
Yes, we will judge angels, but not in this life! Yes, we will be subordinate judges under the Supreme Judge, but again, not in this life! In this life we are to judge ourselves and our brothers and sisters in Christ, not those who have repudiated, ignored, or are ignorant of the truth. Only God almighty has that right and authority.
We, as the Body of Christ have the authority and right to judge those who label themselves as gay Christians, but we do not have the authority or right to judge the gay community as a whole. What we do have is the obligation to preach the gospel or as Paul instructed Timothy: 2 Timothy 2:24-26
24 And the Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, 25 with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will. NAS
In our age there are two kingdoms we must concern ourselves with; the Kingdom of God (which we are to judge now), and the kingdom of the devil (whose citizens we will not judge in this life).
Our obligation is to preach the gospel and make disciples and as the Holy Spirit works in each new disciple’s life knowledge of sin will come from within, not without and the Bible then becomes a source of wisdom and transformation. Jesus knows the hearts of men, which is why we are taught not to “caste our pearls before swine” or can you not see that the “swine” are trampling His truth underfoot and turning on us to tear us apart. What was Jesus telling us in Matthew 7:6? Matt 7:6
[Give not that which is holy ...] By some the word "holy" has been supposed to mean "flesh offered in sacrifice," made holy, or separated to a sacred use; but it probably means here "anything connected with religion" - admonition, precept, or doctrine. Pearls are precious stones found in shell-fish, chiefly in India, in the waters that surround Ceylon. They are used to denote anything especially precious, Rev 17:4; 18:12-16; Matt 13:45. In this place they are used to denote the doctrines of the gospel. "Dogs" signify people who spurn, oppose, and abuse that doctrine; people of special sourness and malignity of temper, who meet it like growling and quarrelsome curs, Phil 3:2; 2 Peter 2:22; Rev 22:15. "Swine" denote those who would trample the precepts underfoot; people of impurity of life; those who are corrupt, polluted, profane, obscene, and sensual; those who would not know the value of the gospel, and who would tread it down as swine would pearls, 2 Peter 2:22; Prov 11:22. The meaning of this proverb, then, is, do not offer your doctrine to those violent and abusive people who would growl and curse you; nor to those especially debased and profligate who would not perceive its value, would trample it down, and would abuse you. This verse furnishes a beautiful instance of what has been called the "introverted parallelism." The usual mode of poetry among the Hebrews, and a common mode of expression in proverbs and apothegms, was by the parallelism, where one member of a sentence answered to another, or expressed substantially the same sense with some addition or modification.

God’s truth will always be rejected by the unsaved through ignorance or just plain rebellion since as God lamented in Genesis: Gen 8:21-22
21 And the LORD smelled the soothing aroma; and the LORD said to Himself, "I will never again curse the ground on account of man, for the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth; and I will never again destroy every living thing, as I have done.
22 "While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night
Shall not cease." NAS
Only the Holy Spirit can modify the “intents of man’s heart” and only through true faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Therefore, we should preach the gospel and let God judge those who reject His truth for as Paul eloquently states:
Romans 1:16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. NAS
