Science, Creation & EvolutionAge of the EarthHmmm... I find it strange... okey, so the half life can be tested in some samples.. But where can I find, WHY it is exponentional... I know that the theory started with ernest, and probs hasn't changed since, but WHY is it exponentional... All I can find it's a theory and assumption... sorta to fill the gap, to give an explanation, we just fill this gap to make sure that we got something to present... I can come so far, that I can accept that half life is true..., i'll even accept the number of 5730 years for C14 dating... but I cannot accept logically that suddenly the decay slows by half the speed around that time... I need to find a reason why it decays then suddenly at half the speed... cause I can't find that, even not in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exponential_decay and in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-life and in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mean_lifetime All I can see is that it's a theory based upon a theory based upon a theory based on some tests, and from that assumptions were made and that were the basis for a theory... I accept there are some forms of decay... but I can nowhere find any reason for exponentional decay, except theories of how it could supposedly work. I also got some other problems with c14 dating... It takes the amount of c14 that was present in the air in 1970 as a starting base... they do not take in account that the amount of c14 has changed dramatically in the air since 1970... They also assume that the amount of c14 in the air hasn't changed in all those "millions of years" and that it has always been te same... They also assume that the amount of c14 in the thing they date, was exact the same as the amount of c14 in the air... Throughout the life of a creature/plant, there would form an equilibrium between the amounts of c14 in the air and in the body so it would be equal... Shame though tests have proven that this is not true(please, take my word for it... don't feel like scouring the internet for the article) c14 dating for rocks are also not reliable, cause they date rocks of the eruption of St. Helens also several thousands of years old, whilst it wasn't older than a few years. |
