Free For all - Open Discussions and DebatesFaith is blind and downright dangerousHealthy skepticism is one thing, however posting outlandish opinions based on a lack of understanding is another. Pick a definition and run with it. Macro-evolution cannot be verified by testing, this theory is based on assumptions developed to try to explain the origins of species. The Big Bang is the best explanation for the origin of the universe, however it has flaws that science cannot explain away. So materialists put blind faith in science and try to show that those who question their god have placed blind faith in a religion, which simply begs the question when you consider the fact that many eminent scientists were and are devout Christians, Muslims, and etc. Science tries to explain the visible universe and religion deals with what cannot be observed or reduced to laboratory experiments. When science ceases to question the accepted theories and takes a dogmatic stance the science ceases to be science and becomes a proto-religion. You have been extremely critical of how men have interpreted the Bible by elevating mankind's interpretation of our observed universe to the level of a demigod. The day any scientist can pull a vacuum in a jar and then create dirt, vegetation, and life in that jar you might be able to prove God does not exist. But until then all scientific disciplines will be a moving target of evolving theories that help contribute to our knowledge. Theories are not empirically proven facts no matter how scientists decide to define scientific theories. Science has its place in our world, but so does religion and they will always be disputes between the two. Science can neither prove or disprove the existence of God. On the other hand when an atheist murders 20 million people because he seeks power, wealth, and control over people he is no different than those who profess to follow a religion and then don't follow what that religion teaches. Fear of eternal punishment does not lead to good works or love of ones neighbor. Fear of an eternal punishment stymies personal growth by leading to adherence to a set of rules, doctrines, or dogmas. Good works performed out of fear are self serving as are good works done for personal gain such as pride in self. People are people regardless of their professed faith or a lack of professed faith. |
