Hello, i'm a young Christian biology student at a christian university. I took a few entry level theology classes to meet requirements for graduation and our proffessors always told us something that i found helpful: the bible is not a science text book.
I'm not presuming to know just how literal something is or how literal it should be taken, because God certainly could create a universe in seven days just like i'm sure he could create it in seven seconds, but the thing is i'm not so sure that it matters just how long it took. What matters is that you realize that god did create the universe and that he created you and i. My professor also told us to remember that different parts of the bible were written for different reasons and therefore have different levels of literal meaning, like a poem or a song of praise about something wouldnt be as literal as the actual event written. I dunno maybe this didn't help at all, but the main thing is if your scientifically oriented it's okay, just remember that people don't have all of the answers and to love god and he'll guide you and give you udnerstanding, especially if you pray about it and remember not to dismiss anything in the bible, it is all there for a reason.
Oh and by the by i personally do believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans, i don't think evolution played a role in our creation. However I do think evolution exists as a part of God's plan for... well i guess you could call it upkeep of His animals.
This may not be helpful at all i guess, and if its not just ignore it lol
