The key to understanding Jephthah's daughter's fate is found in verse 39 where we read "and she knew no man". So although Jephthah did not keep the letter of his vow, he kept the spirit of his vow by sacrificing his progeny.
I'm sorry, maybe I'm missing something but this doesn't make any sense to me. If he was merely sacrificing his progeny, what was the use of giving his daughter a 2 month respite before he "did with her according to his vow".
