Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesNo OSAS (Revelation 22:19)I understand that you don't believe in a works-based salvation. I don't believe that either. I think we are both agreed on the fact that works are not a basis for salvation, but that they are an indicator of our salvation. The difference is in what we believe that indicator stands for: I believe it indicates that the person was never saved to begin with, while you believe it indicates that the person has lost their salvation. See, this is why I was asking before about whether or not Gay Theology preaches that homosexuality is a sin. You replied that Gay Theology does not believe that it is a sin. Therefore your statement here is incorrect. Gay Theology does not advocate practicing sin. Gay Theology does advocate practicing something that we consider on the basis of Scripture to be sin - there is a difference. Again, liken this to Contemporary Christian Music. Charasmatic churches do not advocate practicing sin by listening to worldly music, because they do not believe it is sin. Charasmatic churches advocate practicing something that I consider on the basis of Scripture to be sin. This is not my view. Everyone sins. We know that on the basis of the Scripture you posted along with many others. Bad Works, for all intents and purposes, would be synonomous with living a lifestyle of or practicing sin. And as I said before, this is an indicator. What that indicator means is where our difference of opinions arises. So if they are all antichrists, why do you refuse to give them the label that Scripture gives them? I John says they were never saved in the first place. No, what I am advocating is that a saved person will never lose faith, practice sin, or deny that Jesus came in the flesh. If a person does this, then we know that their profession of faith was not genuine and that they were never saved in the first place. Thanks for telling me what I believe. No, I do not believe that overcoming is necessary for salvation. I believe overcoming is inevitable for those who are saved. Big difference. Great! I believe the same thing! We both agree that apostates are unbelievers (regardless of whether they always were or they lost their salvation), right? All I did was show the following: 1) All apostates are unbelievers (apostates are a subset of unbelievers). 2) All unbelievers are false prophets (unbeliever = false prophet). 3) All false prophets are antichrists (false prophet = antichrist) 4) All antichrists were never saved in the first place. 5) Therefore, by substitution, all apostates were never saved in the first place. Substitution of equivalent terms is not redefinition. So if you are going to claim that I've redefined the word, you're going to need to defend that claim with more than just the dictionary-definition of the word. |
