Hmm.. I too have a history of taking songs and relating them christian-wise. Take switchfoot for example in their song, "Meant to live"
"Fumbling his confidence
And wondering why the world has passed him by
Hoping that he's bid for more than arguments
And failed attempts to fly.."
I could kind of relate this to a boy without hope in bad situation who has failed to fulfil his fantasies of suicide...but thats just me relating from life.
"Dreaming about Providence
And whether mice or men have second tries
Maybe we've been livin with our eyes half open
Maybe we're bent and broken..."
Providence-The care, guardianship, and control exercised by a deity; divine direction: “Some sought the key to history in the working of divine providence” (
the gurdianship,of couse being God.
Second tries- repenting and being forgiven
Eyes half open,to me represented the unfufilled vision commoners have. And when you recieve Christ and instal his word in your mind--then you see the world in a whole different view. Thus, your vision destination is fulfilled!
Bent and broken to me,is how we fill when we have no hope.
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves? x4
I, personally think that God has plans for us all. We must first give ourselves to him,so he can direct us to acomplish our destinies. If we dont we will be missing out on alot! 'Have we lost ourselves'?
We want more than this world's got to offer x2
We want more than the wars of our fathers
And everything inside screams for second life...
I have a very unique mind. My thinking ethics aren't very basic like the average commoner...for that I praise God! The 1st line suggests that we are never satisfied with our lives. The 2nd line states how our father's wars affect us. Some of the wars don't even have to be literal. Take African-American slavery for instance--I being half black don't think we ever got over that. ("The Man is trying to hold me down.") We want more respect--we have pride and deserve more.
The 3rd line states second life. This is the life you get after you are saved. Your sinful unforgiven life is past and you move on to the life of a disciple.(hopefully)
