Steve, if someone had tried to force a moral opinion upon Hitler, there might be some kids with grandparents today.
During slavery in the USA, the "underground railroad" forced their moral opinions upon the South by helping slaves escape. They are considered heroes today.
Our entire legal system is based upon someone's morality. It is forced on those living under that legal system. Now, if the morality that is commanded by God opposes the morality allowed by a legal system, and that latter morality allows/causes the deaths of innocent people, what should those who follow God do? Sit by and idly allow murder upon murder to happen? I have a hard time with that.
And, again, it is not the fact that the woman has a right to do what she wants with her own body. That, in fact, is not legal anyway. There are several things it is illegal to do: ride a motorcycle without a helmet, commit suicide (it's a little hard punishing that one, granted...), take street drugs, etc. etc. However, even if it were legal for a woman to do whatever she wants with her own body, what about that little body inside her, which is totally dependant upon her?
If the mother kills the baby after it is born, no matter how much of a preemie it is, she is prosecuted for murder. The only difference between a seven month preemie and a seven month fetus is whether or not it can be seen. If you can see it before you murder it, it's murder. If you can't see it before you murder it, it's a legal abortion.
And it is still murder. Murder of the most defenseless members of our race. Murder for convenience.
By the way, less than 1% of rape victims conceive. I know one woman who was raped and conceived. She carried her baby to term. Her opinion? That the baby was the most healing thing that could have happened. It turned hate into love.
Perhaps not every woman would feel that way. OK, let's allow them an abortion. That is less than 0.001% of all abortions performed in the United States. What about danger to the mother's life? That's about the same percentage. So, essentially all abortions, statistically, are performed as a matter of convenience to the mother. The rare exception is not significant statistically. Tho exceptions would still be allowed if abortion were illegal, the way other murders are illegal.
We save the whales and kill the kids, right?
