I received an email from my cousin, who was responding to some questions I had about her faith. Here is part of that email.
There are no scriptures in the standard works that confirm of the belief that Mary was, in fact, the _lawful_ wife of God. That is why we have need for continuting revelation ... that's why we have been blessed to have a prophet on the Earth, because God loves us. The statements I gave you ARE scriptural references, since they are from Apostles and Prophets. But, if you don't believe; you don't believe. There's nothing I can do to change that.
I also never said that Heavenly Father became a man. We believe that Mary was transfigured through the power of the Holy Ghost in order to meet with the Father. The prophets don't often talk about this ... would you want to talk about _your_ parents having sex? No! This is such a sacred thing to happen that we don't refer to it because of its _sacredness_. That's why this doctrine isn't taught. Because it IS so sacred.
The Holy Ghost does depart from us when we sin. That's why we need to repent, so that we can have his influence in our lives all the time. That's all I'm saying. We all have our conscience, the light of Christ, to help us determine between right and wrong. But, after baptism, we are confimed and given the gift of the Holy Ghost ... He will help guide us and feel Heavenly Father's love.
Can you offer up any Bible Scriptures that will counter these beliefs?
