You started out saying not everyone took a college course in debating. I mentioned I never took such a course. I did briefly mention I took a course in logic in college during our discussion about logic.
Now I see this whole college/textbook/academia discussion as a non-starter. One does not have to go to a college or university to learn more about logic which is merely the study of reasoning. There is the internet, the library, bookstores, etc. I personally think self education is preferable to university education often but I am speaking as a self employed person. I realize that most science labs want to see a sheepskin for example.
Third, I believe you have failed to show the connection between pride and logic and how the two must necessarily be related.
Fourth, I still see no reason to point out errors in reasoning if someone wishes to take issue with the material I put in my threads. If you want to make a defense of illogical material and then say why errors in reasoning should not be pointed out then go right ahead.
Also, does God need a sun to show Him when 24 hours has passed? I do not believe the sun/moon argument is a strong argument. God knew how long a day would be since He can see the future.
Lastly, you wrote:
Also tuppence went out of her way to seperated evolution from old/young age advocates in her post because she understands that come extremely qualified Christian scientists accept an old universe while rejecting evolution.
Well qualified men in science also promote the macroevolution hypothesis which I believe the evidence shows is deeply flawed. Educated men promoted turning lead into gold in science history. Educated men in history bleeded their patients.
I think the Bible is right when it says:
Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie;
In the balances they go up;
They are together lighter than breath.
- Proverbs
I also cite:
1Cor 1:19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
1Cor 1:20 Where [is] the wise? where [is] the scribe? where [is] the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
1Cor 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Now the question is what does the Bible exegetical evidence and the science evidence say regarding the a young earth versus a old earth?
Below is some evidence regarding a young earth versus a old earth:
The below thread is a thread where I was examining this issue in greater depth. I believe it has a lot of good information though in regards to Bible exegesis and the science issues. Some excellent information appears in the middle and end of the thread and not necessarily in the first post of the thread, so I would ask for the readers indulgence.
