As I noted before Tuppence, a board moderator, authored a thread called A and non A having to do with creationism/evolution and logic (see: http://www.jesus-christ-forums.com/home/viewtopic.php?t=6263 ) . Therefore, I duly note your comments about logic and board members interests and I reject them. Clearly, I am not alone in thinking that logic plays a important role in creation/evolution discussion.
More importantly, logic is the study of sound reasoning. Academia is and never will be the only place where sound reasoning is important. For example, lets look at business. Should a long term stock investor not invest in a stock because a lot of investors is leaving it necessarily (bandwagon /ad populum reasoning, see: http://www.datanation.com/fallacies/pop.htm ) ? Not if he wants to buy low and sell high! A long terms investor looks at where the stock will be many years from now and not what everyone else is doing at some point in time (bandwagon / ad populum fallacious reasoning ). Thus, if post are not well reasoned and contain illogical reasoning I see no reason why they should not be pointed out since logic certainly has a place outside of academia.
Now if someone does not agree with you or another board poster regarding the importance of logic as it relates to board discussion that does not necessarily make them prideful. I could argue that if anyone does not agree with me regarding logic and board posts that they are being prideful but I prefer not to go down that road as I do not think it would be germaine or profitable. I think you need to drop the prideful comments and focus more on if logic/sound reasoning is important in board discussions. Is that not the more important question?
