This had just come to me after thoroughly reading the posts throughout this thread. I understand that we are United with GOD in "Salvation, i.e., God(Christ) presence abides within us. Knowing this, wouldn't Gods presence which had made its abode within us on Earth remain with us after we depart?
Pauls desire was to depart "analuo" (to loose or untie himself) from the Body and to be in the Presence of God. He was "hard pressed between the two" as in a tug-of-war between the two possible desires of continuing to live in the flesh in gain of apostolic labors and spiritual gain, and departing to be in the presence of God. Both are Pauls "Desires", and both desires present realistic possiblities, the realistic possibility of continue living which consists of serving and Glorifying God or the promotion to the heavenly presence of Christ and perfect fellowship with Him.
