Gnostradamus, the Jews considered their covenant name for God to be so sacred they never spoke His name but addressed Him as Lord. Most modern translations keep to this tradition by translating YHWH as LORD. Also Jehovah is incorrect, YHWH is better rendered "Yahweh"
GOD, NAMES OF
5. "Yahweh": The name most distinctive of God as the God of Israel is (Yahweh, a combination of the tetragrammaton (YHWH) with the vowels of 'Adhonay, transliterated as Yehowah, but read aloud by the Hebrews 'adhonay).

The New World translators ignore Greek grammar when translating John 1:1 and other verses throughout their translation.
John 1:1
1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. NAS
"..and the word was God" is rendered "..and the word was a god" because in the Greek theos is not preceded by "ho".
Regarding statement 3 above, the correct English translation is "...and the Word was God," not "and God was the word." This is because if there is only one definite article ("ho"="the") in a clause where two nouns are in the nominative ("subject") form ("theos" and "logos"), then the noun with the definite article ("ho"="the") is the subject. In this case "ho logos" means that "the word" is the subject of the clause. Therefore, "...the Word was God" is the correct translation, not "God was the Word."1 But this does not negate the idea that John is speaking of only one God, not two, even though the Jehovah's Witnesses maintain that Jesus is "a god," or the "mighty god" as was addressed above.

[/quote]Also there are some Hebrew and Greek words the New World translations does not even translate, which makes the translation unclear. One of those words is:
NT:166
aionios (ahee-o'-nee-os); from NT:165; perpetual (also used of past time, or past and future as well):
KJV - eternal, for ever, everlasting, world (began).

If you have read the NWT you should have noticed that certain words are capitalized that should not be because in the Greek the capitalized word is preceded by “ho”. The NWT is grammatically sloppy and incorrect.
