ArchivedQustions about your bible. ...........You want to bring up punctuation? What is interesting about punctuation is that the original manuscripts do not include punctuation, so the translators added punctuation in accordance with accepted usage of the time and how they interpreted a passage. Read 2 Peter 2:20-21. This verse is not punctuated properly since it should read “work, which”. Also in the time of the Bible was written there were not breaks between words. Inotherwordsallsentenceswerewrittenlikethis. Also Hebrew is written right to left and not left to right. In the above quote is a facsimile of the 1611 edition of the KJ Bible. The Translators included a note showing a different rendering found in some manuscripts. The NAS uses the alternate rendering and therefore does not disagree with the KJ. Please note the way the 1611 edition spells Judah. The Geneva Bible is still in use and (as I posted above) was the first Bible brought to America, so your whole thesis falls apart based on real history and not denominational hysteria. As to Revelation 22:18-19 only a bigot would interpret these verses apply to all 66 books of the Bible, especially when modern KJ Bibles do not include the Apocrypha that were included in the 1611 edition of the KJ Bible. Have you ever seen a copy of the 1611 edition of the KJ Bible? Jesus is spelled Iesus. In fact the name Jesus is not our Savior’s name as found in the original manuscripts, His name is Yehoshua or Yahoshua, which is the same name of Moses’ successor Joshua. So your infallible Bible is incorrect both in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and etc. Now concerning words dropped by the NAS that appear in the KJ, have you checked the manuscripts used to translated the KJ Bible? If you have you will find the KJ translators added words for clarity just as all translators have to do when translating from one language to another language. Therefore the King James Bible is not a word-for-word translation of the original languages. The Greek word translated “stature” is “helikia”, which can mean age. And BTW the NAS did not drop the word “cubit”. Now define “stature”. So you see GM, the NAS did not change anything, the translators used an alternate meaning for the same Greek word that does not change or diminish God’s message or truth. I suggest you do some real research and stop depending on bigots who think they have a lock on God’s truth. Modern KJ Bibles have made a lot of changes to the authorized 1611 edition of a Bible ordered by the head of the Church of England who was a practicing homosexual whose main goal was to eliminate the anti-Catholic sentiment found in the Bishop's Bible because James 1 of England was a closeted Roman Catholic. x_m_m_x_, the 54 men who translated the King James Bible were just men who used manuscripts compiled by a Roman Catholic monk that contained at least one known spurious addition to 1 John that was ordered inserted by the Pope. So I trust modern scholarship more than a set of manuscripts with known corrupted additions made by the Catholic Church. Also I have already posted one example where these 54 men allowed personal prejudice to cloud their translation, a prejudice that still exists today, a prejudice that denies the true gospel message that “whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”. |
