ArchivedConfusedHopefully these words will help you understand friend. Romans 3:10-12 - As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Men do not seek God as we see above. But God is the one who seeks man. You are correct, God does have a purpose for everyones life and it will come to pass. It would be foolish of men to think they have the will to overcome what God has already planned. Let's look at some more scriptures and see what we can find. John 15:16 - Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:19 - If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. From these two we see that God is the one who choses and it is not man who choses. John 6:44 - No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. Whoa, now let's think about what Christ is saying here. He says that no man can come to Him unless the Father draws Him. And John 1:13 - Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. What can be said about this? That no man is born again by their choice (it is not of works). Scripture says that those who are born (in spirit) are not born by man's will, but by God's. And if one can only come to Christ if the Father draws him, who is making the choice as to who will be saved? To that I would answer God, because it is only done by His will and not the will of man. So can one truly say we have a chioce in the matter of believing in Christ? Exodus 33:19 - And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. Romans 9:15 - For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. Romans 1:24 - Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Romans 9:21 - Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? From the first two we see that God choses whom He will have mercy on and whom He will not. From the last one we see that potter (God) is the one who makes a lump to be honoured and one to be dishonoured. If God made a vessel for dishonour, can that vessel chose to be one for honor and overcome the will and power of the potter who is God? Job 10:9 - Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again? Jeremiah 18:6 - O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. It is only the vanity of man to think he can chose the right path himself. If God is the one who draws us to Christ, He is the one who puts the desire in our hearts to pursue righteousness and He is the one who gives us victory over the world and sin by the spirit of His Son (in this life). 1 John 5:4 - For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1 John 5:5 - Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 3:8 - He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. It says that he might destroy the works of the devil. what is the works of the devil? Is it not sin (disobedience), deception, and leading people away from God. But the truth sets us free which is only given by God's grace and not by the will of man or of works so to say.
