ArchivedBizarre Requests from God in the BibleI appreciate the explanation and I do understand it but I also understand why some would consider it strange coming from an all loving God. Here try this, imagine that God had not told Abraham to kill Isaac but he had ordered him to rape Isaac instead. Now how does it sound? Even if God told you to rape, does He not have the power to heal the trauma? Now it does sound bizarre dont you agree? The Abraham/Isaac event could just be a record of Abraham realising that God doesnt require human sacrifice and going against Canaanite tradition by sacrificing an animal in his place. As for your last point about God testing our faith I certainly wouldnt dream of testing my wifes love for me by asking her to kill her child, I dont believe God would either. |
