Homosexual Discussion ForumBisexualityIt doesn't matter whether they were religious sites or not. Their descriptions did not translate to your "gays get gay bowel syndrome" conclusion. The fact is you are posting information of the 'gay bowel syndrome' claiming such diseases to be an absolute result from being gay when it's pure fiction and an outright lie. The mental health industry is not responsible for reparative therapy. Ex-gay groups are the ones that practice that unproven and potentially dangerous treatment. I don't see what connection between the mental health industry and reparative therapy you are trying to make. I don't know any ex-gays and not without surprise since they are such a miniscule minority (In my opinion, they don't exist). However, you can't discredit my knowledge based on my experience with ex-gays since such knowledge can be achieved a priori. I did a research paper on reparative therapy and the ex-gay movement. What I found was some very disturbing information. And no one is forcing teens to come out. Teens come out on their own. I and many other gay advocates have always cautioned teens to come out when they feel the time is right. I don't know where you got the idea that I encourage teens to come out as soon as they learn of their sexual orientation. The earlier they can come out, the better of course. However, that does not mean I advocate coming out when one is not ready. That's a pile of horse-dung. Coming out has no corrollation to 'baring it all with society'. Coming out is a process of discovering one's self-identity among themselves and others. As I repeated before, I have never advocated coming out when one is not ready. You merely assumed so. Self-acceptance mostly comes from within but, again, you severely underestimate the impact acceptance from family and peers have on it. For someone who used to be gay, I'm surprised you have such misconceptions of the gay community. |
