RomeSweetHome, you are debating against the Catholic Church when you denigrate science. However, have you studied Genesis? We can discern that what makes mankind unique is not our flesh and blood but the fact we are spiritual beings as well physical beings. As to the Big Bang, when properly understood is a good explanation of "in the beginning God created". I do not accept evolution and as usual you are throwing out issues in an attempt to side track this thread.
Eating the flesh and drinking the blood of a living being is even worse than eating the flesh and drinking the blood of the dead. Common sense as well as Greek grammar indicates Jesus was speaking metaphorically.
Metaphors in Greek
I have read some of the Catholic Church's ECF's, and found the Catholic Church has forced the word eucharist upon the Greek word that means "thanksgiving". The word "eucharist" is in fact a transliteration of the Greek for thanksgiving. Therefore, there is evidence the Catholic Church has forced later doctrinal positions on the writings of the ECF's.
whosurdaddy, Jesus is with all Christians on a daily basis not just in the mass. Have you studied John 17? Also the crucifixion is meaningless without the resurrection. So what we celebrate is not Jesus' death but His resurrection.
