Christian/Muslim ThreadsIs Communion really the body of Christ?Aieno Wrote: Who cares about the "term"? Would you like me to put down what the early church fathers had to say about communion? Forced interpretations? or just ones you dont agree with? what about Protestant interpretations? shall I get into that? Aieno Wrote: I dont believe everything a scientist says, do you? do you reject God and believe in evolution? the big bang? etc... It is true that Jesus is not preaching cannibalism. He is teaching about the sacrament of the Eucharist, which he would institute. Cannibalism is a sort of parody of the Eucharist, just as the worship of an idol is a parody of the worship of God. Just because we are not to worship idols does not mean we are not to worship God. Just because we are not to eat the dead flesh of a human being does not mean we are not to eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Risen and Living Christ. Aieno Wrote: Proof? Aieno Wrote: It is true that the priest says "true and real Sacrifice of the Mass" during service, but is it literal? what does it mean exactly? Catholics do not believe Jesus is killed over and over again at every mass. The Catholic Church believes that his sacrifice of Calvary is present in every Mass because he is present at every Mass.
