Christian/Muslim ThreadsBefore Jesus(pbuh), Monotheism or trinityThe best that we can say is that the Prophets didn't know about the Trinity. Abraham, Noah, Moses and David worshipped Yahweh-Elohim and so do Christians today. If we happen to know something that they didn't know, that doesn't make it any less correct. Biblically speaking, Abraham never taught the resurrection and neither did Moses. But that doesn't mean that the resurrection isn't true. Biblically speaking, Abraham knew God by the name El-Shaddai and he never knew him by the names Yahweh or Eheyah Asher Eheyah. But this doesn't mean that that Yahweh is an incorrect name for God. So if they didn't know about the Trinity, it doesn't mean that it isn't true. What matters is whether God revealed the Trinity. What matters is whether Jesus taught the Trinity. What matters is whether the Trinity can be discerned from the Word of God. As for the analogies you quoted, admittedly they aren't perfect but what you said concerning the water analogy is incorrect; Have you ever heard of the "Triple Point" of water? It's well known to Physicists that at the right temperature and pressure water can exist in all three forms simultaneously. That is when the temperature is "x degrees" and the pressure is "y pascals", water is solid liquid and gas at the same time. This was actually quite funny; And your question; Because it wasn't revealed to them. In my opinion it's possible that the Trinity formula that the Catholic Church had devised may not be an accurate explanation of the relationship between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. May I ask you Abdullah whether you object to any of the so called "proof-texts" in the Bible? And what do you think of the idea that Jeus proceeded from God as Eve proceeded from Adam? And what do you think of the idea that the Holy-Spirit might be better understood as "God's Active Force", and not a sperate person but a part of God's person? I'm hoping that nobody will jump down my throat for asking these questions, I'm just curious to know what a Muslim thinks about them. . |
