Islam is a repressive, you are forced to be opressed by sharia rules wheter you like that or not (if your gay, non-religious, apostates, philosophers (free thinker), historians, journalists, scientists, policitians, etc...) ...in Islam there is no gradual guidance of God, it's impersonal... whatever you do, you will be fiercly and unmercyful punished for it on the spot (with or without trial)... Yesterday in Iran they hanged a serial killer in public and after 100's of whiplashed then they let the parents of the murdered family go round to put a dagger in his back before chopping his head off... I don't like serial killers either but I'd rather have western law and justice then Islam who thinks justice is subjective vengeance with an angry mob like a pack of wild dogs.
And islam countries are only filled with supposed 'godly' people because their nations aren't secular... many of them are merely muslim out of tradition, i talked to marrocans who even want Islam/Arabic and it's calendar out of their country... and back to their Berber roots (wich is the majority language and culture there), but they cannot because their kings are heritage from the muslim empire, and are de facto oppressed by their choices. Plus next to the religious propaganda they are fed in school... the press in those countries isn't free... statistics about the rise of alcohol consumption in (for example) The United Arabian Emirates you won't ever see made public.
In Islam God is impersonal... 1400 years ago he threw some laws at you, and said his goodbye's. while in christianity you are guided by the holy spirit who is alive as your next breath... in so much that even the worst criminal and alcoholic can repent... God will guide them to the straight path. Islam looks down on criminals and others, etc... Christianity forgives them and gives them a chance to become better. Like the beatifull passage in the bible, you are to be nice to everybody, even those you view as 'wicked'. Cause if you are only nice to the nice people, what reward is in that?
For the moment, Islam is a very exotic religion (like buddhism in the 60/70's, it's a trend) the west gets to know it due to terrorism and political turmoil... so people start to dig into it. Those who glorify Islam now is because of the lack of knowledge and critique of Islam in the west... so the gullible mass eats all the glorified islam (consider the source)... in five to ten years from now (when the amount of critism will arise to a conundrum), islam will have the negative image it diserves... from the atrocities of muhammed to the human rights violations in the 21th century. The west is a very sceptic territory for the muslim to step on, and it will most likely loose... even their countries are getting influenced by secularism and freedom of speech... terrorism is the last breath of islam... it's kicking and screaming to stay alive from the thread of secularisation... since they know, that this progress will make them as good as the West and not as bad as muhammed anymore.
And Ursus i am not surprised that you are accepted on muslim fora... it's because you talk like a muslim and not like a christian... There is no 'people of the book salvation' wich you keep on preaching... Salvation is only trough christ, noone will see the father unless you go trough Him.
You ideas sound like a Sufi or a Baha'i... sufi's are gnostic/mystic muslims who are inspired by christian ascentism. Baha'i's a muslim sect and is a bit more scriptual and original thou
