ArchivedIdolatry in ChristianityMy theological perspective is based strictly on the Bible as the only source of correct doctrine and political expediency is not a valid rationale for importing pagan beliefs into Christianity. Your statements are patently false. I don’t know of many Protestant disciplines that claim they have a corner on God’s truth or claim that only their members are saved. Where do you get the idea that St. Thomas Aquinas is the main source of Catholic theology; St. Augustine is viewed by many Christian historians as the father of modern Christianity. The vast majority of Catholic doctrines were in place centuries before St. Thomas Aquinas. The first schism in Christendom was in the 5th century when the Coptic Orthodox Church left the fold over a dispute concerning the nature of Jesus and the Orthodox and Catholic Churches were in a constant struggle for supremacy long before the “great schism” of the 13th century, which was the result of the 4th Crusade and the sack of Constantinople by Catholic armies. What you seem to want to ignore is I have not posted that all Catholics are lost; what I have posted is the Catholic doctrines based on “holy tradition” void and contradict God’s revealed truth. Now if you can show me I am wrong I am willing to consider what you have to say otherwise I will take God’s word over the traditions of men. |
