ArchivedDoes society define Christian standards?Since all issues regarding morality are covered in Scripture what is left could be considered morally neutral therefore we can use Biblical principles as our guide. Jesus taught that thought equals actions so we can stand on this to avoid music and other forms of entertainment that violate Christian morality. And we are also admonished not to cause a brother to stumble by our actions. So if we know someone who has a problem with alcohol we can use this as a reason to refrain from the use of alcohol when they are in the group. We are told not to damage our human temple and this can be used to take a stand against smoking and other cultural activities that can lead to medical problems. I would say that each situation you encounter needs to be handled on a case-by-case basis as I don’t see a hard and fast rule that could apply to all situations. I think what is imperative is our actions must match our words so we don’t appear hypocritical or self-righteous. |
