Christian/Muslim ThreadsOpen to Ideas from All FaithsPeace All I belong to a large church with a congregation of 3000 plus. The tithe does go for the church building because they require maintenance and property taxes. The tithe also goes for the pay of those who do God's work. We dont live in a free soceity, and a man has to put food on his table. The people who do God's work are a special breed, since so many choose other more money making paths. Yes we all claim to be witnesses of Christ, but would you or I give up our jobs to join the church and make less than 35,000 per year? (which is what the pastors at my church make.) The majority of the tithe goes for missionary work over-seas. Would you deny the witnessing of Christ to those who have never heard of Him, or strayed away from Him? Throughout the Bible, the Lord has never accepted His people testing Him, accept for the tithe. He dares you to test Him concerning the tithe. And the Lord is correct. When you give your tithe, regardless of how much money you have, the Lord takes care of you. You and Chazrum talked about the choosing of different religions. All religions have their historical faults. I belong to the Lutheran faith, since I was brought up in that Church. But the Lutheran faith nor church are my religion, Jesus is my religion. Which is what I would say to you. Pick whatever faith your want. But make your religion Jesus Christ. I have made a couple of assumptions as to why you said this. But I would like to remind you of some quotes from the most famous person to ever walk the earth, Jesus Christ. "Do not judge the sinful, for you not know what lay in their hearts." "Let he who is sinless, cast the first stone." Judgment lays in the Hand of God the Father Almighty, not us mere men. Just come to Christ, and try to bring as many as you can with you.
