Actually Hinduism "contains" all...(Vishnu- Shiva-Brahma,Indra....) some of them may be more popular than the others but Hindus do not reject older ones like Indra Primary scriptures of Hinduism are Vedas and Upanishads(vedanta) As I said: According to most ,origin of vedas goes back to the times of pre-harappans(4500/400 Bc) and; For instance : "Siva does not occur in the Vedic hymns as the name of a god, but as an adjective in the sense of kind, or auspicious. The Rig-Veda (1:164:46) says "They call it Indra, Mitra, Varuna, Agni, Also that divine and noble-winged Garutman; The one being, the wise call by many names; Be it Agni or Yama of Matarishwan." and Vedas also say: Truth is one, but Sages call it by different names |
